This is the Beta Hat. It was the first ever item on Club Penguin. The only way to get it now is to hack it.
The Beta Hat had many followers, like the first year anniversary hat. It is the same but with different colors and was first seen on October 24th, 2006.
This is the second year party hat. It is orange and yellow and was first seen on October 24th, 2007.
This is the 3rd anniversary hat. It is blue, orange, and yellow and was released on October 24th, 2008.
The 4th Party Hat was released on October 24th, 2009. It is purple and blue.
No one knows what the 5th party hat will look like. It will be released on October 24th, 2010.

wow. even though i had heard of cp since kindergarten, i didn`t even start thinking of joining until april 26th, 09. then, i finnaly DID join may 1st, 09 (my birthday!). sence then, there has never been a day i wasn`t on clubpenguin atleast an hour. sence i found out about this place, there has never been a day i wasn`t here!!!
(kind of funny my penguin was born the same day as i was! different year, of corse, though.)
